Your Workers’ Compensation Protections Are Under Attack

Did you know that Corporate America wants to limit your ability to hold them accountable when you suffer a work-related injury?

Just ask Dallas attorney Bill Minick.

According to an October 2015 article at www.propublica.org, corporations like Walmart, McDonald’s and others want to end workplace protections that have existed to protect the rights of injured workers for more than 100 years.

So what’s the plan?

Corporate America wants to “protect” your rights themselves. That’s right: They want to replace the law with private rules they make up themselves.

The idea that the same corporations that already hold injuries in such laughably low regard would now serve as your protectors strains credulity. Yet here is McDonald’s telling you to trust them (the same company that disregarded so many complaints of hot coffee that they actually finally forced a court to hold them liable for the skin-grafts and other third-degree burns the coffee was regularly causing).

This chutzpah on the part of Corporate America continues the longstanding efforts on the part of corporations in what they euphemistically refer to as “Tort Reform.” Translation: They want to limit how much they have to pay for the injuries they cause so they can get back to calculating how much an injury costs. That way, they can build that cost into their products and protect their already-excessive profits.

If you have suffered a workplace injury, your employer and its insurer are not there to help you. Put an experienced attorney in your corner who can help you pursue the compensation provided for you by law without regard to any one employer’s profit-projections and shareholder obligations.
